I find it irritating when a friend posted a tweet on Twitter saying: “Happy Ied-al-Adha to those who celebrate it”. I would prefer the italic line dropped altogether. Why can’t we all, regardless of our different faiths and religions, celebrate holidays together? Of course religious holidays are meant to commemorate a sacred event for a particular faith, but there are always universal values involved in all of them. In Eid-al-Adha, for instance, we sacrifice cows and goats and donate their meat for the less fortunate to eat. Now, is there a religion in the world that says giving to the poor is not a noble thing to do? I would be surprised. Despite being a Catholic, for almost all my life I have always celebrated other religions’ holidays to the extent that is feasible. Yah kemarin (14/09/2010) keluar ide untuk nge-twit soal #urinal di toilet2. Post disini ah biar abadi :) What I'm about to tweet is kind of 'sampah'. So be advised. It all started a couple of weeks ago when @awinoto, @chandramichael and I were in a men's room #urinal We had a discussion about the right number of urinals there should be at a men's room #urinal Now let's make some assumptions. The average guy wants to stay clear at least one #urinal away from the guys next to him. So the perfect arrangement would be for there to be an odd number of urinals, and each person stays one urinal away from the next. Only if it's occupied that you go on the rest. #urinal But there are guys that don't give a shit, and this is troublesome. Saya ingin menuliskan ulang sebuah notes yang saya tulis beberapa bulan yang lalu di Facebook. Isi tulisan ini adalah sebuah pemikiran sederhana, yang berawal dari rasa malu mendengar kabar bahwa timnas kita hancur lebur di Sea Games Laos. Sungguh miris melihat tingginya animo masyarakat akan sepakbola, tidak terrefleksi pada kualitas sepakbola Indonesia. Begitu banyak anak bermain bola di jalanan. Begitu banyak tempat futsal bertebaran di seantero kota. Lapangan sepakbola di kampung-kampung selalu terisi setiap harinya oleh anak-anak bermain bola. Tapi mengapa di antara jutaan insan sepakbola Indonesia sepertinya tiada output yang ciamik. Apakah karena negara kita kurang sumber daya? Apakah karena kita negara miskin? Saya rasa tidak. Berkaca kepada negara sahabat seperti Brasil dan Argentina, yang notabene juga negara miskin, kualitas sepakbola mereka bumi dan langit dengan kita.
